An official film and photography organization of adamson university manila pioneers its intercollegiate filmmaking competition for this year.
MANILA, Philippines — adamson university manila Silip@Lente jumpstarted one of its major events, REALIFILM 2022, with an official Facebook announcement last February 7, opening registrations for all college students until March 8.
This year’s theme, “Go Overboard: Withstand Obstacles of Disarray,” highlights courageously facing challenges without reservations caused by the pandemic. Realifilm aims at all college students who are passionate about creating films and are aspiring to be professionals in the film industry. The event provides a platform for showcasing students’ creativity and the art of storytelling through film in different varieties and genres.
“The theme is about overcoming obstacles amidst the pandemic. As stated in the mechanics, the film should be aligned with the theme, with that being said, film entries should have [been] done during the times of this pandemic,” Ms. Grace Mayate, the event directress and the Vice President for Internal Affairs of Silip@Lente—AdU.
In addition to this, the organization also scheduled a 2-session WebinarSerye on March 12 & 13. Silip@Lente aims to target at least 150 participants to participate in the webinar, including Adamson University manila audiences. Guest speakers will lead the WebinarSerye and will discuss their expertise and experiences in the field of filmmaking.
Selected films will be showcased on March 19 at the Realifilm’s Film Festival via Zoom to feature the creativity and excellence of these masterpieces. On top of that, the Realifilm awards night, the event’s concluding program, is scheduled to take place on March 26, 2022, via Zoon as well.
Academic Directress of Silip@Lente— adamson university manila Ms. Emmelyn Bela-ong also expressed her sentiments for the event, “We made this possible to give them a platform to showcase what our young filmmakers got today, their talents, passion, and dedication. Our goal is to help them shine as they continue to believe that they can contribute to the life of our country’s filmmaking industry in the future,” she said.
As a prerequisite to entering the film competition, the organization has set criteria and mechanics. Among these, Silip@Lente advises that all participating students avoid filming outdoors or in crowded areas. Recognizing that the country is still in a pandemic, Realifilm 2022 will still be held online, and the organization asks all participants to adhere to the protocols set by the government.
