The Initiative PH’s Project Lumad launches its very own merchandise line to support Lumad students

project lumad launches its own merchandise

The Initiative PH’s Project Lumad, under its Department of Marginalized Community Action wing,  in partnership with Spotted magazine advocates for the Lumad students’ right to claim education.

Project Lumad aims to raise funds to provide relief aid for the remaining Bakwit Lumad Students in the University of the Philippines Diliman.

Previously imagined as a field trip for the school, it has evolved to adapt to the current circumstances brought by the pandemic. It was one of the COVID-response efforts that delivered goods and produce to the Lumad students on a weekly basis. To sustain its efforts, Project Lumad was able to partner with Jeepney Padala and coordinate with Save Our Schools Network to ensure that the immediate needs of the teachers and students are catered to.

In 2021, the team reimagined Project Lumad into an initiative that will better cater to the needs of our Bakwit School students. To continue raising monetary funds for the community, the team has continued to raise awareness by holding online campaigns and creating articles through its social media and blog platform. With these campaigns, Project Lumad aims to showcase the humanized side of the Lumad Bakwit Schools (LBS) and to share their stories with the audience. Some of Project Lumad’s notable posts are A Day in the Life of a Lumad Bakwit Student and Minsan ko na rin Nakakasama ang mga Lumad Bakwit Students.

With the pandemic depleting their already limited resources, threatening the safety and stability of the students and teachers, Project Lumad asks for your assistance by offering monetary donations to support the Lumad Bakwit School Community in resuming their education.

In addition, Project Lumad has recently launched its own Merchandise Store to garner funds to purchase school supplies for the LBS community as they have recently returned to their home in Mindanao. The Project Lumad Merchandise Store currently has stickers available for pre-order, and will soon launch its shirt and tote bag designs.
